Sculpt, Shape, and Bring Clay to Life with Sean Clute


Turn a lump of clay into something full of personality, movement, and soul! 


Join us in beautiful St. Petersburg, Florida for 3-days, soaking up the sunshine and learning the art of constructing expressive clay figures from the ground up.


Whether you're a curious beginner or a clay-slinging pro, Sean’s hands-on approach and quirky creative energy will guide you through techniques for building dynamic, sculptural forms that tell a story.


- Learn figure-building fundamentals

- Experiment with surface texture and storytelling through form
- Connect with a crew of fellow makers in a supportive, fun environment

 Within my projects, I push myself to expand my reaches of the human form.  When I make my figures, I look at the diverse range the world offers and reflect that in my work.  Within that comprehension, I am

 Within my projects, I push myself to expand my reaches of the human form.  When I make my figures, I look at the diverse range the world offers and reflect that in my work.  Within that comprehension, I am able to project the layers of their innermost self.  I use subtle indifferences to the pose, the face, and the clothes to reinforce a response or to push the demeanor in a unique direction.  By understanding the character’s position, physically and mentally, the pose can drape a mood onto the piece and provokes a conversation with the figure

Participants will first learn how to construct a quick proportionate 1.5 feet tall figure.  


Sean will work with you to get your figure ready to transform it into a pose.  He will introduce creative exercises to turn your general figure into someone specific and add additional elements.  


Participants will go home figure in your dynamic pose by the end of the workshop!
