Chris Gustin: Form, Surface & the Vessel
Spend three immersive days in the studio with one of the most influential voices in contemporary American ceramics.
Chris Gustin has devoted more than five decades to exploring the possibilities of clay. From his early years working in a commercial ceramics factory to his education at the Kansas City Art Institute and Alfred University, and through decades as an educator, studio artist, and maker, Gustin has developed a distinctive approach to the vessel that is at once sculptural, tactile, and deeply connected to the human experience. His work can be found in major collections throughout the United States and internationally, and his many honors include the James Renwick Alliance “Master of the Medium” award and election as a Fellow of the American Craft Council.
In this special 3-day workshop, participants will have the opportunity to work alongside Gustin as he shares the ideas, observations, and studio practices that have shaped his remarkable career.
